drunk, killing one of his teammates. this comes one week african can city chiefs player belcher killed his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself. nbc's sara story has the story for us this morning and the tragic news inside the nfl. >> it appears as if he was traveling at a high rate of speed at which time his vehicle touched or impacted the outside curb of the service road, causing his vehicle to flip at least one time. >> reporter: irving police say josh brent was drive whgt mercedes flipped and landed on its top. the passenger was jerry brown jr., a linebacker on the cowboys' practice squad. officers say the car was on fire when they arrived on scene. >> when our officers arrived on scene, mr. brent was removing -- or dragging mr. brown from the vehicle. >> reporter: investigators say brown was unresponsive and later died at a hospital. they say speed and alcohol were factors in the crush. brent failed a field sobriety test. >> based on his performance of those tests, along with our officers' observations and the conversations they had with him, he was placed under arrest for

on the tragic death of a new york city man whose final moments were captured in that picture. tonight a 30-year-old homeless man faces second-degree charges of murder. davis is accused of shoving that victim following a confrontation. davis has a long record in new york and pennsylvania. police say the victim tried to climb a few feet to safety but got trapped between the train and the platform's edge. what was planned as a birthday party for jazz great dave brubeck is now becoming a memorial tribute. brubeck died today in connecticut one day shy of his 92nd birthday. gotta know that one. take five from the 1959 album time-out. it was the first jazz album to sell a million copies. grammy winner dave brubeck been at the age of 91. >>> a memorial service was held today for kansas city chiefs linebacker jovan belcher. belcher shot his girlfriend saturday morning. the couple add three-month-old daughter together. then he drove to arrowhead stadium where he shot and killed himself. we've posted the 911 calls that belcher's mom made begging belcher to stay alive. >>> today a fairfax county judge made

baltimore county man died in a .ouse fire early this morning you can see this is just north the city of baltimore. we will take you closer to where this happened. police say what happened is was such a rural area they had to get water from a source. you can see from google images, this area is pretty rural. like a two lane road. it took two and a half hours to get the fire contained. they had to exit the home the flames were too intense. two firefighters were hurt. one was taken to the hospital. no word on their conditions right now. they were able to get the fire out and get inside the is when they found inside.rly man are waiting to get more from our abc affiliate in baltimore. >> thank you. students back in class in aearningounty after student brought a gun to school. return,udents and staff still a lot of surrounding the exactly including who involved and why somebody have brought a gun to school. a scare out of fairfax county was found inside of student at's locker. administrators are saying -- administrators are not saying but he said it was the student posy friend that authori

. they combined to mark martin vicksburg but it was clear that the city, the batteries could not be taken without support of army troops. and general halleck who was the army commander of the theater, i like to call him general can't be done, told farragut asked if he could spare some of his 100,000 troops to help a railroad junction, to capture vicksburg. and how it said can't be done. don't have enough troops. and the level of the river was dropping so much, the union naval forces and the army troops were there, only 3000, were all getting sick. so the union forces actually gave up the effort to capture vicksburg in the summer of 1862 because the navy would help them do. which came somewhat as a surprise to note in public because the flotilla at that time, the navy had been doing a lot of things all by itself without any army support. they've captured -- they captured of port royal bay in november 1861. all without any army support at all. but clearly that run of success was going to come to an end. the confederates have now figured out some ways to carry the war to the union forces itself. the
